Minnesota Man Slashed His Own Roommate's Neck Over $15, Police Say

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Authorities said that a man allegedly confessed to stabbing his roommate to death after the two men had an argument over $15.

Officers with the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) were dispatched to a residence on July 6th on reports of a stabbing, Local12 reported.

Investigators spoke with witnesses, one of which identified the assailant as 21-year-old Sincir Malik Porter.

The witness further told investigators that Porter had been arguing with the victim before allegedly stabbing him in the neck.

The victim was found on the floor of the home with a stab wound to the neck. He was immediately taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers reportedly found a knife with blood on the blade near the front of the home. "Upon arriving, officers observed a large amount of blood on the floor and walls in the living room of the residence," the affidavit read.

"A known adult male, Victim herein, was laying on the ground with a stab wound to the neck."

Police obtained security camera videos that revealed Porter and the victim were arguing over $15. The victim allegedly stood in a fighting stance until he realized Porter had stabbed him and then he fell to the ground.

Police canvased the neighborhood and eventually found Porter, who reportedly said, "Yeah, you got me," upon being found.

Porter then allegedly admitted to stabbing the victim during questioning, and said "he had thought about killing [the victim] and his other roommates in the past."

"[Porter] stated that the roommates were lucky they didn't get in his way," the affidavit read. Porter has since been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Porter is being held on a $1 million bond at the Hennepin County Jail, according to Law & Crime. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman.
